Round of Applause
Let’s give a round of applause to our ATPE members all around the state who go above and beyond.
Vickiela Wright, a fifth-grade English language arts teacher at McWhirter Elementary School in Clear Creek ISD, was named the 2026 Texas Teacher of the Year, a program coordinated by the Texas Association of School Administrators (TASA). Wright will represent the state in the National Teacher of the Year competition.
The following ATPE members were named Regional Teachers of the Year for their respective ESC regions:
Regional Teachers of the Year—Elementary
- Region 4: Vickiela Wright, Margaret S. McWhirter Elementary School, Clear Creek ISD (Texas Teacher of the Year)
- Region 9: Cherron Johnson, I.C. Evans Elementary School, Burkburnett ISD
- Region 11: Angela Lee, Monaco Elementary School, Aubrey ISD
- Region 16: Tiffany Brown, Bob L. Kirksey Elementary School, Booker ISD
- Region 19: Rachel Gomez, Sierra Blanca ISD
Regional Teachers of the Year—Secondary
- Region 3: Rachel Lowrey, Career and Technology Institute, Victoria ISD
- Region 4: Ashley Anderson, Dickinson Continuation Center, Dickinson ISD
- Region 10: Gennie Holcomb, Rockwall-Heath High School, Rockwall ISD
- Region 12: Taylor Adame, Waco High School, Waco ISD (Texas Teacher of the Year finalist)
- Region 13: Victoria Sanders, Round Rock High School, Round Rock ISD
- Region 14: Jansen Wilhite, Merkel High School, Merkel ISD
Humble
Jelise Campeau, a Study Skills and ICS Science Teacher at Atascocita Middle School, was named a Super Staffer of the Month for October.
The following ATPE members were also named Super Staffers for their respective campuses:
- Groves Elementary – Lindsey Hood-Arenales, Kindergarten Teacher
- Hidden Hollow Elementary – Jeralisa Stein, Second Grade Teacher
- Creekwood Middle School – Atifa Manzoor, Social Studies Teacher
Medina Valley
Angela Bowen, a teacher at Medina Valley Middle School, received the KENS 5 EXCEL Award in October, and Credit Human, a nonprofit credit union, presented her with a $2,000 check.
Midway (12)
Pamela Blair, a teacher at Woodway Elementary, was named Midway ISD’s 2025 Elementary Teacher of the Year.
Megan Brown, a teacher at Midway High School, was named the district’s Secondary Teacher of the Year.
The following ATPE members were also named 2025 Teachers of the Year for their respective campuses:

Three ATPE members received the Paris ISD GROWL (Getting Results from Outstanding Wildcat Leaders) Award for the month of September:
