Bring Science TEKS to Life with Local Coastline Connections
ATPE is excited to announce an upcoming webinar at 5 p.m. Nov. 21 featuring PBS’ Chasing the Tide series. Our special guests will be Jay Kleberg and educational resource creator Anne Marie Fayen.
Chasing the Tide follows Kleberg and his wife, Chrissy, on an unprecedented expedition along Texas’ 370 miles of barrier islands. Their 21-day hike explores one of the most biologically diverse coastlines in North America and efforts to balance economic growth and healthy wildlife populations. The six-part, 30-minute episodic series showcases the beauty and complexity of the Texas coast. Through series-developed, TEKS-aligned learning resources and videos, educators can engage K-12 students on topics such as aplomado and peregrine falcons, rediscovery of red wolf DNA, the life cycle of the endangered Kemp’s ridley sea turtle, marine debris and the issue of trash on the Texas coast, and more.
