Be a RAC Star: The ATPE Regional Advocacy Challenge

Earn recognition for your region, potentially win prizes, and become a stronger advocate for Texas public education in the new ATPE Regional Advocacy Challenge.

We know our ATPE regions love a little friendly competition, so this legislative session, ATPE is introducing the ATPE Regional Advocacy Challenge (RAC). This is your chance to rack up advocacy points for yourself and your region with ATPE’s biggest “RAC Stars” to be honored during the 2025 ATPE Summit, July 7-9 at the JW Marriott Austin Downtown.

How the challenge works

Now through June 2, you can earn points for participating in advocacy activities through ATPE. Each month, we’ll release a new challenge/focus area, plus you’ll have the opportunity to earn points through additional activities.

Regions will compete in three categories:

  • Under 2,000 members (Regions 2, 3, 5, 8, 9, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19)
  • 2,000–5,000 members (Regions 6, 7, 12, 13)
  • 5,000+ members (Regions 1, 4, 10, 11, 20)

At the ATPE Summit, we’ll recognize the first- and second-place region in each category, as well as the overall first-, second-, and third-place RAC Stars statewide. We’ll also recognize RAC stars within each challenge through fun drawings. Regional standings will be announced each week in the Teachers’ Lounge in the ATPE Online Community.

The challenges—and how you can start earning points

  • Challenge 1: ATPE-MAP State-Level Advocacy Microcredential Completion—Regions will earn 10 points for every member who has completed the ATPE Member Advocate Program (ATPE-MAP) State-Level Microcredential by March 2. Each completing member will also earn 10 points.
